Part I (winter term):
  • Introduction:
    Observed spectra of gaseous nebulae (H II regions, planetary nebulae), stellar spectral classsification

  • Qualitative interpretation of spectra of optical thin plasma (gaseous nebulae)

  • Photoionisation, Stroemgren spheres

  • Microscopic processes and statistical equilibrium

  • Thermal equilibrium

  • Recombination theory

  • Optical thick plasma (Stellar atmospheres)

  • Radiation transport

  • Model atmospheres

  • Spectral line broadening

  • Diagnostics of optical thin and thick plasmas

  • Properties of central stars of gaseous nebulae
