- Inhalt
- This lecture is intended as an introduction into the physics of the various aspects of the interaction of light and matter with a strong emphasis on the quantum nature of the interaction partners. The underlying basic theoretical background as well as experimental techniques will be treated.
Topics covered in particular are: quantization of the electromagnetic field; non-classical states of light; quantum quasi-probability distributions; theory of quantum coherence of the electromagnetic field; resonant interaction of 2-level atoms with the electromagnetic field; Doppler cooling; dipole traps; ion traps; dipole radiation; photon sources; squeezing and optical parametric down conversion; homodyning and heterodyning detection techniques; state tomography.
