- Dieser Kurs ist bifunktional, kann also entweder im Bereich Literaturwissenschaft oder im Bereich Kulturwissenschaft belegt werden.

- Inhalt
- This course will look at how literary and cinematic art moves from veracity to virtuality. Starting with hyper-realistic and metafictional post-war plays (Pinter’s The Caretaker, Shaffer’s Amadeus, Churchill’s Cloud Nine, and Kane’s Blasted), we will discuss the role of reception as well as the power of verbal and visual imagination. Ending the semester with three fake documentary films (The Blair Witch Project, Forgotten Silver, and Death of a President), we will ask how reality, or its artistic perception, has changed over the past half century. Students are expected to participate actively and to do one formal in-class presentation.
Please note that this course will meet weekly during November and December only, and in addition on four Saturdays: 20 November and 18 December 2011, 15 and 29 January 2011, from 9 am to 1.30 pm.
