- Das PS Literature gehört in folgenden Studiengängen jeweils zu folgenden Modulen:
BA English and American Studies (neu): Zwischenmodul II Literature. (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Zwischenmodul I: Thematisches Kombinationsmodul) Lehramt Englisch an Gymnasien (neu): Zwischenmodul L-GYM Literature (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Basismodul Literature) Lehramt Englisch an Grund-, Haupt- und Realschulen (neu): Zwischenmodul L-UF Literature. (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Elementarmodul Literature)
- Inhalt
- Contemporary British fiction comprises a wide variety of literary phenomena, which show aesthetic and thematic continuities and discontinuities in relation to the literary tradition in Britain. In this seminar we will analyse four popular novels of the first decade of the 21st century and critically discuss, in which ways these texts adapt conventions and practices of former periods (e.g. modernism and postmodernism), traditional theoretical context and modes of writing (e.g. realism/experimentalism, intertextuality, post-colonialism), genres (e.g. dystopian, crime, historicalfiction) and topics (e.g. ethics and aesthetics, memory and storytelling), and in which ways they enter new territories (e.g. multi-ethnic society,post-apocalyptic writing, posthumanism, cosmopolitanism and globalization) and form new combinations of tradition and innovation. Or, in other words, we will discuss the novelty of these contemporary British novels.
