This course intends to deepen and practice (text)analytical skills acquired in the course of your previous studies. With a focus on the three major genres various texts from different centuries will be discussed and analyzed, including plays by William Shakespeare and Oscar Wilde, James Joyce’s short stories and a wide range of poetry. In this context we will also consider questions concerning the development of these genres as well as examples of subgenres.
