- Inhalt
- Would you (taking up a comparison made by Michael Swan in his guest lecture at the language centre last term) use a map of London published in the 1960s if you wanted to find your way round London today?
Would people driving a VW Käfer today think that it makes use of the most up-to-date technology with respect to petrol consumption etc.?
Would people use dictionaries published in the 1970s and be firmly convinced they are perfectly appropriate and the best they can get?
This seminar will focus on the importance of dictionaries in the process of foreign language learning, teaching, and use. This entails discussing topics such as
SHOULD THERE BE A WAITING LIST FOR THIS SEMINAR I ASK EVERYBODY ON THE WAITING LIST TO COME TO THE FIRST SESSION IN ORDER TO SEE WHETHER PLACES HAVE BECOME AVAILABLE. FAILURE TO ATTEND FOR THE FIRST CLASS WILL RESULT IN LOSING THE PLACE.
Topics for presentations in class will be available from September onwards in my Sprechstunden.
