- Das PS Linguistics gehört in folgenden Studiengängen jeweils zu folgenden Modulen:
BA English and American Studies (neu): Zwischenmodul II Linguistics. (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Zwischenmodul I: Thematisches Kombinationsmodul) Lehramt Englisch an Gymnasien (neu): Zwischenmodul L-GYM Linguistics. (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Basismodul Linguistics) Lehramt Englisch an Grund-, Haupt- und Realschulen (neu): Seminarmodul L-UF Linguistics. (Zulassungsvoraussetzung: Elementarmodul Linguistics)
- Inhalt
- When we communicate with each other, we often mean more than we explicitly say. Sometimes, words can even be used not only to imply additional meaning, but also to avoid certain topics, or even deceive the hearer. This is what this seminar is going to tackle: the pragmatics in our communication. After a thorough study of basic pragmatic principles, such as implicature, speech act theory and conversational analysis, we will have a look at what is going on in our minds when we speak (called ‘cognitive pragmatics’) and we will see how persuasion, conflict talk or avoidance can influence language in a political or legal setting, i.e. the courtroom (the latter called ‘forensic linguistics’).
