- Inhalt
- Language contact may be described as one of the most prominent characteristics in the evolution of the English language that distinguishes this evolution from that of other languages. The present structure of English is a result foremost of the Romance influence on a Germanic language, a vast body of varieties were born out of the contact of English with indigenous languages in the former colonies and every day English is now taught in non-English-speaking surroundings. This course is therefore going to look at the circumstances under which English and other languages met and are meeting as well as the result(s) of this contact.
