- Das PS Literature gehört in folgenden Studiengängen jeweils zu folgenden Modulen:

- Inhalt
- Nowadays the horror story is associated with iconic authors like Stephen King, a popular movie genre and stereotypical features like explicit gore and violence. In this seminar we will look at the origins and the evolution of those "horrific tales" and at the reasons for their enduring popularity and influence.
Furthermore we will explore horror's relationship with its "mother/sister genre", the gothic novel, and in this context also ask why the horror story has become so strongly associated with male writers and a "male perspective". In addition to questions of gender representation we will also analyse how the texts mirror contemporary discourses and anxieties about class, race, nationality, religion, politics and science.
