- Das militärische Engagement der USA in Vietnam und Irak wird im Kontext der Containment-Politik und der Terroranschläge des 11. September 2001 anhand der Bedrohungsperzeptionen amerikanischer Entscheidungsträger, der Weltverbesserungsvorstellungen der „best and the brightest“ und der „Neokonservativen“, der Rolle des Kongresses, der Haltung der amerikanischen Öffentlichkeit sowie der geopolitischen Folgen analysiert und miteinander verglichen.
