Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches
Students of the masters programs "English studies" and "Linguistik" participating in this course also have to attend the seminar "First Language Acquisition" (1 SWS) offered by Dr. Steinlen
Lehramt Gym: Students intending to work as teachers can take this course as a course under "Freier Bereich" ("Prüfungsnummer" 69101, PO 2012, Hauptseminar or "Prüfungsnummer" 20412, PO 2007/09, Hauptseminar).

Inhalt
Success in secondlanguage (L2) acquisition is dependent on many different factors, which areoften confounded.. In this course, we will relate the findings of L2 studies that have examined these factors to the foreign language classroom, and we will discuss which learning environments have to be created in order to help students in a foreign language classroom to reach a high level of L2 proficiency. In addition, we will discuss to what extent different second language learning theories make predictions that are relevant to foreign language teaching situations.
Course materials will be provided. There is no prescribed textbook.
