- Dieser Kurs kann sowohl als Proseminar (Basismodul) als auch als Mittelseminar (Aufbauseminar) gewählt werden. Der Kurs findet am 15.6.12 (13.00-17.00) und am 16.6.12 (9.00-17.00) an der Universität Nürnberg statt, Raum U1.038

- Recent theories of second language acquisition, such as Processability Theory (e.g. Pienemann 1998) or Universal Grammar (e.g. Chomsky 1965) suggest that all learners go through strikingly similar stages and that they produce remarkably similar structures. However, this view obscures the fact that learners may be radically different from each other in more than one regard because second language data exhibit a large degree of inter- and intra-individual variation. A number of learner variables will be discussed in this block seminar, i.e. factors which affect and influence both learning behaviours and outcomes. These variables, among others, comprise age, attitude, learning strategies, motivation, sex, and also personality factors (e.g. anxiety, risk-taking, self-esteem, etc.). In this course, we will discuss the complexity of factors that are involved in the process of language learning which may drastically differ among learners. Furthermore, the aim of this course is to enable you to assess the differentiated learners' needs in the foreign language classroom.
Requirements for this block seminar are oral participation, a group presentation and a term paper.
