- Inhalt
- This 3-credit course will make students familiar with neurobiological, physiological, ethological and evolutionary aspects of motivation. Emphasis will be placed on the biopsychology of human motivation, but animal models of motivation will be considered, too. Specifically, students will gain knowledge on basic properties, processes, and functions of motivation, key substrates of motivation and learning in the brain, general motivational systems subserving approach and avoidance, specific motivational systems associated with hunger and satiety, curiosity, sex, affiliation, dominance, and parental behavior, and the uniquely human capacity of regulating motivation and goal pursuit over long time periods and through the use of symbolic language.
