- Inhalt
- This course examines the US’ conflict and crisis management since the end of the Cold War. The first part will analyse the driving forces behind the strategic outlook of the US. It will look at the fundamental principles as stated in the most relevant strategic documents such as the NSS, the Defense Strategic Guidance or the Quadrennial Defense Review Report. In a second step we will analyse how these principles translate into concrete foreign politics. For this purpose we will look at American conflict and crisis management in the Greater Middle East, Africa and the Asian-Pacific region. In this context the course also provides an answer to American global engagement within multilateral frameworks such as NATO, the UN or “coalitions of the willing” type of missions.
