We expect to offer this course again in the winter semester 2014/2015. Students who fail with the grade 5,0 must retake the whole course before being allowed to attempt the exam again.

Additional information for students who are interested in taking this course as an online / blended-learning course:

  • A grade of 2,7 or better in Introduction to English Legal Language is required to take this course as an online / blended-learning course

  • Students who wish to take more than one level 3 law course this semester may only take one as a blended-learning course

  • Attendance is compulsory at all three classroom workshops, so please check the dates carefully!

  • The final (one hour) class on 27th June is an additional, optional (but strongly recommended) exam revison session

  • Students will work through most of the course materials independently using both online and printed materials. In the workshops students will have the opportunity to ask questions, clarify any points they are unsure about, and use the vocabulary and knowledge they have acquired in practical exercises.

Inhalt
The law of obligations is the term used to group together two distinct fields of law: the law of torts and contract law.

This course focuses on the acquisition of the core legal terminology used in these two fields by learning about the fundamental legal principles in these areas. In addition to that, you will discover what procedures are involved in taking a civil case to court and the terminology employed in civil procedural law.

The course will place equal weighting on all the four language learning skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Empfohlene Literatur
All materials will be provided online (via StudOn) or in class.
