- Old-style students and BA/Neue LPO students (Sprachpraktische Übung für Fortgeschrittene).
Part of Hauptmodul B (BA), Optionsmodul (L-Gym), L-UfE.
Old-students must have passed the Basismodul Language and Landeskunde courses before attending AWAS, translation or any exam preparation courses. New-style students must have passed the Basismodul Language and the Zwischenmodul/Vertiefungsmodul.
- Inhalt
- The translation course will introduce some basic techniques in English-German translation. We will devote a considerable amount of time to a variety of translation-related issues, such as the question of what makes a good translation or how literal a translation should be. Participants will be required to make a presentation regarding typical areas of difficulty, such as how to translate participle constructions or how to deal with culture-specific concepts. In addition, students will be required to translate several texts, which will then be discussed in class.
