- Die Independent Study Group gehört in folgenden Studiengängen jeweils zu folgenden Modulen:
BA English and American Studies (neu): Hauptmodul A.
MA Linguistik: Modul 2/3 (=Selbststudium mit Kontaktzeit)
- Inhalt
- As the name suggests, the idea behind this type of class is that you form small groups and independently carry out a research project, usually related to the topic of the corresponding Hauptseminar, under the supervision of the course convenor. The class will begin with a block containing a brief introduction to data in linguistic research (e.g. the use of corpora or of experiments) and to formulating good research questions. After that, the groups will work independently and I will meet one group per week to monitor progress and suggest improvements. At the end of the semester, each group has to present the results of their study in about 30 minutes (+ 15 minutes question time).
The class can also be used as the "Selbststudium mit Kontaktzeit" in the M.A. programme in linguistics.
