Due to a restructuring of the courses this semester, the previously available “General English for Natural Scientists” course will no longer be offered. The material for that course has been expanded and divided up to form two new courses, of which this is one (the other being “Scientific discourse in English”). Those who have previously taken the course “General English for Natural Scientists” do not need to retake either of these new courses.Assessment:

- Course Description:
This general course in scientific English is aimed at students of all scientific disciplines and does not concentrate on particular fields of study within the sciences.
Topics covered include:
Describing space, form and location. Ways of presenting and describing data. Equations and mathematics in science. The language of hypothesis and proof. Statistics in scientific writing. The description of scientific ideas. Summary and note taking. Reading and analysis of scientific literature.
