- Die Veranstaltung ist partizipativ angelegt, entsprechend wird eine Teilnahmepflicht durchgesetzt.
Die Arbeit mit Literatur und Quellen in englischer Sprache ist im Rahmen dieser Veranstaltung verpflichtend Leistungsnachweis in der Veranstaltung wird über eine Kurzpräsentation sowie eine Hausarbeit erbracht. Wöchentliches Lesepensum: ca. 50 Seiten.

- Bretton Woods, eine Kleinstadt im US-Bundesstaat New Hampshire, wird 1944 zum Ort, an dem 44 Staaten unter Führung der USA über die Schaffung eines neuen Weltwirtschaftssystems nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg befinden. Grundlage dieses neuen Systems sollte ein freier Welthandel sein und, damit einhergehend, eine im Dollar verankerte internationale Währungsordnung. Zur Verteidigung dieser Doktrin wurden die Bretton Woods-Institutionen Weltbank und Internationaler Währungsfonds (IWF) geschaffen. Gleichzeitig wurde über eine Welthandelsorganisation und die Anbindung der Internationalen Arbeitsorganisation (ILO) diskutiert. Das Proseminar wird sich über eine intensive Behandlung ausgewählter Literatur und Quellen mit den Grundlagen der innen- und außenpolitischen Verfasstheit des Bretton Woods-Systems vom Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges bis zu dessen Zusammenbruch 1973 beschäftigen.

- The course is designed to be participatory; accordingly, compulsory attendance will be enforced.
Working with literature and sources in English is obligatory in this course. Credit in the course will be achieved via a short presentation as well as a term paper. Weekly reading load: approx. 50 pages.

- In 1944, Bretton Woods, a small town in the U.S. state of New Hampshire, became the place where 44 states led by the U.S. decided on the creation of a new world economic order after World War II. The basis of this new system was to be free world trade and, along with it, an international monetary order anchored in the dollar. To defend this doctrine, the Bretton Woods institutions, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were created. At the same time, a World Trade Organization and the affiliation of the International Labor Organization (ILO) were discussed. Through an intensive treatment of selected literature and sources, the seminar will deal with the fundamentals of the domestic and foreign policy constitution of the Bretton Woods system from the end of World War II until its collapse in 1973.
