Grundkurs Optik 1: Optics, Information and 3D sensors [Import]

Dozentinnen/Dozenten
apl. Prof. Dr. Gerd Häusler, Dr. Svenja Ettl

Angaben
Vorlesung
2 SWS, ECTS-Studium, ECTS-Credits: 5, WPF CE-BA-TA-PO of 4th semester
Zeit und Ort: Di 12:30 - 14:00, HF

Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches
The course is suitable for 4th or higher semester Natural Scientists and Engineers, especially for the Physics Module as part of the Bachelor or Master studies of Physics. If desired, interested users of measurement technology are also welcome.

Inhalt
Optical methods have an overriding importance in obtaining and transmitting information. The lecture will convey essential physical and technical principals as well as practical methods, tips and tricks for the work of a physicist or engineer in the lab. If desired, exercises can also be performed at the available optical 3D sensors.
1. Illumination: Lighting parameters, physiological aspects, photography, photo receiver, noise. How bright is an image? How does a projector work? How can we see stars at daylight?
2. Imaging I: Geometric imaging in the Gauss range, optical instruments, telecentrics, Scheimpflug condition, accommodation and acuity. How to solve imaging tasks in the lab?
3. Imaging II: Geometric imaging with aberrations, 3rd order aberrations. How to accomplish imaging tasks almost free of errors with “toolkit” optics?
4. Imaging III: Technical wave optics, tolerance criteria for image quality, transfer function, point image, resolution, depth of field. When is an image “sharp”? Where are the physical and technical limits of the imaging?
5. Optical Measuring: Sensors for measuring geometric and optical parameters, optical 3D sensors. How to measure an angle, focusing, length, distance, refractive index, Schlieren?
