Inhalt
For micro- and nano-optical systems it is often not possible to use approximation procedures. Therefore, for modelling these systems the Maxwell's equations has to be solved numerically. One well established method is the so called "Finite-Difference Time-domain method" (FDTD). It enables to calculate an entire spectrum in one simulation and is used for example in plasmonic systems or the modelling of CMOS sensors.

The course first describes the method theoretically and illustrates it by examples on which the students can work themselves at the computer. For this the software FDTD solutions is used. It is presented in the course and students can work with a temporary licence.
